Newsham stands in at Rockingham

Power Maxed Racing (PMR) have confirmed that Dave Newsham will be standing in for Kelvin Fletcher again for this weekend's rounds in the Dunlop

MSA British Touring Car Championship at Rockingham due to the late arrival of Fletcher's first child.

With Fletcher's wife Liz overdue, Fletcher and Power Maxed Racing Team Principal, Adam Weaver have decided the best course of action is to substitute Fletcher with Newsham for this weekend. Newsham will compete in all three of this weekend's races in Fletcher's PMR Chevy Cruze ahead of the actor's return at Silverstone in September.

Fletcher commented,

"It's a no-brainer for me, I will not miss the birth of my first child, and as Liz becomes increasingly overdue, it is almost inevitable that this race weekend will get in the way. I won't be able to give the race, the team or the championship my full attention which isn't fair on anybody." Fletcher continues, "Dave had a fantastic drive at Knockhill, it was, however, a little surreal watching him behind the wheel of my car on ITV4!"

Newsham commented,

"I had a great outing at Knockhill, and it has made me realise that this is where my heart is. It has been a tough decision for the Power Maxed Team and I to pull out of British Rallycross, however, I need to do everything I can to get back to the BTCC. The chance to have another weekend in the championship I love is perfect; we will all be thinking of Kelvin and Liz and waiting for some exciting news."

Adam Weaver, Power Maxed Racing Team Principal commented,

"We will miss Kelvin at Rockingham, but it is great to work with Dave again, seeing him perform at Knockhill was a delight and it has helped with yet more development of the car that will benefit Kelvin for the last two rounds. We all have our phones at the ready waiting for any baby news. I would like to be the first of many to offer, what I'm sure will be, some unwelcome naming suggestions, Amos if it is a boy and Delila if it a girl!."
