PMR Announce Two New Drivers for VW Cup Campaign

British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) race winners Power Maxed Racing (PMR) have today announced a significant increase in their presence within the Milltek Sport Volkswagen Racing Cup (VW Cup).

The Warwickshire based team will field three cars, with 2017 VAG Trophy Champion Paul Taylor and 2016/17 Runner Up Tom Witts joining existing driver Russell Joyce, strengthening their 2018 campaign.

Paul Taylor has a number of championship titles under his belt, including VW Cup, Stock Hatch and multiple VAG Trophy wins, alongside 100s of individual race wins and numerous lap records. Speaking on his decision to join PMR, Taylor said “We made a commercial decision to change teams this year after not receiving what we were expecting from last year’s team – this cost us the 1st two rounds at Silverstone with a car not ready to race. We took this time to pick who we believe to be the best team within the paddock to enable us to continue our winning ways – PMR. Bring on Rockingham.”

Northamptonshire based Witts finished second in the hotly contested Milltek Sport VW Racing Cup in both 2016 and 17 and is looking to build on his success this year with PMR; “It’s great to be back on the grid, and I’m excited to be joining a team with such a pedigree. The PMR Polo is different to what I’ve previously driven, but I’m looking forward to working alongside the team and making it work. It’s also a great boost to have Paul joining the team at the same time and to be driving alongside Russell, who has experience with the Polo. A big thank you has to be said to both Joyce Designs and Power Maxed for the opportunity, as well as Reflex Autodesign and Road & Race Logistics for their continued support.”

“Having two vastly experienced drivers as part of our VW Cup campaign is really exciting for us,” says PMR Team Manager, Martin Broadhurst. “Both are proven race winners, and with our latest win in the BTCC, we’re confident that the cars will be at the sharp end from the get-go. We’re excited about developing the PMR built Polo with Tom, and are looking forward to some podiums and wins for all three drivers throughout the season.”
