Power Maxed Racing are recruiting highly motivated individuals for our race programs which include the British Touring Car Championship & TCR UK. Our workshops are based in the midlands close to Stratford upon Avon. We have full time and freelance positions available for the roles below

The successful applicants would ideally have the following

  • Experience in a Rally or Race team environment
  • Have the ability to work closely as a team and to the highest standards possible
  • Have a great attention to detail with safety and presentation of great importance
  • Have a positive and pro-active attitude
  • Full driving licence is essential, HGV Licence would be an advantage

Number 1 Mechanic

Key responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Team Manager and Crew Chief
  • Overall responsibility for the preparation, service and rebuild of Race cars ensuring that the car is delivered on time for events
  • Ensure that the cars are presented in the highest possible standard with safety in mind
  • Work to tight time scales and follow correct processes during car build
  • Work both individually and as part of the team both in the workshop and on event
  • Lead and manage the car crew both in the workshop and on event
  • Attend all test and race events as required
  • Be part of the garage team and participate in pit stops if required
  • To problem solve and diagnose faults with minimum supervision
  • Take pride in all work and have an excellent attention to detail
  • Build a good working relationship with the Race Engineering team
  • Responsible for keeping a clean and tidy work environment at all times
  • Promote teamwork and effective communication to build a close-knit team
  • Weekend work is a requirement for this role

Number 2 Mechanic

Key responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Crew Chief and No 1 Mechanic
  • Responsible for the preparation, service and rebuild of race cars under the guidance of the No 1 Mechanic, ensuring that the car is delivered on time for events
  • Ensure that the cars are presented in the highest possible standard with safety in mind
  • Work to tight time scales and follow correct processes during car build
  • Work both individually and as part of the team both in the workshop and on event
  • Attend all test and race events as required
  • Be part of the garage team and participate in pit stops if required
  • To problem solve and diagnose faults with assistance
  • Take pride in all work and have an excellent attention to detail

Sub Assembly/Gearbox Technician

Key responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Team Manager, Crew Chief and Number 1 Mechanic
  • Responsibility for the preparation, service and rebuild of Race car sub-assemblies and transmissions
  • Ensuring that the assemblies are delivered to the car build in a timely manner
  • Ensuring that the cars are presented in the highest possible standard with safety in mind
  • Work to tight time scales and follow correct processes during the car build
  • Work both individually and as part of the team both in the workshop and on event
  • Attend test and race events as required
  • Be part of the garage team and take part in pit stops if required
  • To problem solve and diagnose faults with assistance
  • Take pride in all work and have an excellent attention to detail
  • Responsible for keeping a clean and tidy work environment at all times

Truckie/Tyre Technician

Key responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Team Manager and Crew Chief
  • Responsible for the preparation, loading and un-loading of team transporters pre and post event
  • Ensuring that the team transporters are delivered on time for events safely, and within the road transport regulations
  • Ensure that the team transporters and equipment are presented in the highest possible standard with safety in mind
  • Assist with garage build and breakdown where required
  • Manage the race car tyres at circuit working closely with the Race engineer
  • Work both individually and as part of the team both in the workshop and on event
  • Attend all test and race events as required
  • Be part of the garage team and participate in pit stops if required
  • Take pride in all work and have an excellent attention to detail
  • Responsible for keeping a clean and tidy work environment at all times

Race Engineer – Freelance

Key responsibilities

  • Must have a proven background in engineering front wheel drive race cars
  • Reporting to the Team Manager and working with the race engineering team
  • Preparation of the event run plan and generation of car set up sheets
  • Maintain a run log of all changes to keep the set-up database up to date
  • Management of race and test tyres, tyre lifing, and event plan to ensure best use of tyres
  • Direct communication with driver to ensure maximum performance of the car/driver package
  • Performance analysis of car and driver
  • Efficient management of car crew and support staff to maximise performance
  • Highlight areas of improvement for performance gains
  • Producing post event reports
  • Provide instruction to the team mechanics for jobs requiring completion and car set up
  • Work both individually and as part of the team maintaining a high level of presentation
  • Attend all test and race events as required
  • Be part of the garage team and participate in pit stops if required

Data Engineer – Freelance

Key responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Team Manager and Race Engineering team
  • Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of data and video systems
  • Downloading of data from the race cars and carrying out vehicle health checks
  • Supporting the race engineers and drivers with data analysis
  • Performance analysis of vehicles and drivers
  • Producing post event reports
  • Lifing of race car components
  • Assist with set up and breakdown of equipment including the garage where required
  • Work both individually and as part of the team maintaining a high level of presentation
  • Attend all test and race events as required
  • Be part of the garage team and participate in pit stops if required
  • Take pride in all work and have an excellent attention to detail
  • Responsible for keeping a clean and tidy work environment at all times

Fabricator

We are looking for a Fabricator to lead our low volume fabrication department. In this role you will be expected to produce components for various project including our British Touring Car program where most welded parts are assembled in house, this includes production of race car bodyshells, roll cages, car body accident repairs, manufacture of car components such as radiators, aluminium pipes, brackets etc.

Our ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role and the ability to Tig and Mig weld to a high standard. You will be able to work from engineering drawings, have a flexible, positive attitude and be able to work alone or part of a team. A flexible approach to working hours is essential.

Key responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Team Manager and engineering team
  • Prepare bodyshells and roll cages including any component parts to be used in the shell
  • Carry out shell repairs and modifications as required
  • Fabrication of components from Aluminium, Steel, Stainless steels
  • High standards of Tig & Mig welding
  • Ability to lead and train junior staff members
  • Work to tight tolerances and deadlines whilst maintaining a high quality of workmanship
  • Adhere to safety procedures and always follow safe working practice
  • Work both individually and as part of the team maintaining a high level of presentation
  • Take pride in all work and have an excellent attention to detail

This role has the opportunity for the individual to travel as part of the race teams

Junior Fabricator/Bodywork Technician

We are looking for a Junior Fabricator/Bodywork Technician to work in our low volume fabrication department. In this role you will be expected to work under guidance from our Fabricator to produce components for various project including our British Touring Car program where most welded parts are assembled in house, this includes production of race car bodyshells, roll cages, car body accident repairs, manufacture of car components such as radiators, aluminium pipes, brackets etc. Part of the job function is to prepare all race car bodywork to fit to the race cars and to take to the track as an extensive spares package.

Our ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role and the ability to Tig and Mig weld would be an advantage. We are willing to train the right candidate for the role should you not have any previous experience of welding but have a willingness to learn. You must have a flexible, positive attitude and be able to work alone or part of a team. A flexible approach to working hours is essential.

Key responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Team Manager and Fabricator
  • Prepare bodyshells and roll cages under guidance
  • Assist with shell repairs and modifications as required
  • Assist with the fabrication of components from Aluminium, Steel, Stainless steels
  • Have the ability to learn and apply skills required such as Mig & Tig welding
  • Cutting and folding of component parts ready for welding
  • Pre-fit, drilling and cutting of race car bodywork including fitment of fixings
  • Work to tight tolerances and deadlines whilst maintaining a high quality of workmanship
  • Adhere to safety procedures and always follow safe working practice
  • Work both individually and as part of the team maintaining a high level of presentation
