Consistent Thruxton Weekend Sees LKQ Euro Car Parts with Power Maxed Racing Strengthen Championship Challenge

LKQ Euro Car Parts with Power Maxed Racing enjoyed another productive weekend in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship at Thruxton, with Mikey Doble securing an Independents victory and a trio of top-ten finishes as the team strengthened its position in both the Drivers' and Teams' championships. 

Returning from the summer break, the team arrived at the UK's fastest circuit looking to continue the momentum built during the opening half of the season. While one side of the garage enjoyed a consistently competitive weekend, the other was left battling technical issues from the outset. 

Saturday began positively with Mikey Doble setting the fourth-fastest time during Free Practice, comfortably remaining inside the top ten throughout the session as the team prepared for qualifying. 

For team-mate Aiden Moffat, the opening session proved far more challenging. Mechanical issues ultimately resulted in a loss of power steering, a significant disadvantage around the high-speed, demanding Thruxton circuit, limiting valuable running time ahead of qualifying. 

Despite the setback, both drivers progressed into qualifying, with Doble securing an impressive sixth on the grid while Moffat qualified in 16th. 

The afternoon's Qualifying Race saw Doble continue his strong form, crossing the line in ninth position after another competitive performance, while Moffat recovered to finish 13th, providing a solid platform for Sunday's three races. 

Sunday morning began with light drizzle around the Hampshire circuit, although rising track temperatures ensured conditions remained dry by the time Race One got underway. 

Doble converted his strong starting position into another points finish, taking eighth overall while also securing victory in the Independents Trophy classification. Moffat added another valuable point with a determined drive to 15th despite the challenges that had hampered his weekend. 

Race Two brought further frustration for Moffat. As the cars left the garage, it quickly became apparent that a mechanical issue had developed, with his Audi S3 coming to a halt in the pit lane before reaching the circuit. 

The Power Maxed Racing crew worked quickly to restart the car after the green flag lap, allowing Moffat to take his place on the grid. Fighting hard to recover lost ground, he unfortunately ran wide during the race, collecting grass in the radiator grille and compromising the remainder of his race before finishing 22nd. 

Meanwhile, Doble delivered another composed drive. After briefly losing a position early in the race, he fought back to secure another eighth-place finish. With seventh drawn in the reverse-grid lottery, the LKQ Euro Car Parts driver would again line up eighth for the final race of the weekend. 

Starting eighth once again, Doble found himself caught closer to the inevitable first-lap incidents than he would have liked. Although he lost ground in the early chaos, he recovered well to complete another points-scoring drive in 10th place. 

Moffat's final race initially promised to salvage something from an otherwise difficult weekend. Starting from 22nd on the grid, the Scotsman expertly avoided the opening-lap incidents to climb an incredible ten positions by the end of the first lap. Continuing his charge, he gained two further places before disaster struck on lap 14. 

A technical failure forced Moffat to retire from the race, with water and coolant pouring from beneath the car as he pulled to the side of the circuit, bringing an unfortunate end to a weekend that never truly reflected his pace. 

Despite the frustrations experienced on one side of the garage, the weekend proved another valuable points haul for LKQ Euro Car Parts with Power Maxed Racing. 

Doble's consistency across all three races, coupled with his Independents victory, sees him leave Thruxton seventh in the Drivers' Championship while extending his lead at the top of the Independents Trophy standings. 

Moffat remains 14th in the Drivers' Championship and seventh in the Independents Trophy after battling through one of his toughest weekends of the season. 

The team's consistent scoring also ensures LKQ Euro Car Parts with Power Maxed RAcing retains fourth position in the Overall Teams' Championship while continuing to lead the Independent Teams' Championship. 

Attention now turns to Knockhill, where Moffat will return to his home circuit looking to bounce back, while the team looks to build another strong points haul as the 2026 BTCC season enters its second half.
