Dexter Patterson Secures 2026 Jack Sears Trophy Championship with Power Maxed Racing

Dexter Patterson has secured the 2026 Jack Sears Trophy championship with Power Maxed Racing, wrapping up the title at Silverstone with one round of the British Touring Car Championship still remaining.

The achievement marks a significant milestone in Patterson's career, with the 23-year-old establishing himself as a consistent front-runner in the Jack Sears Trophy throughout the 2026 campaign.

Representing Steel Seal with Power Maxed Racing, Patterson has produced a strong season across the championship's nine race weekends, building a substantial advantage in the Jack Sears Trophy standings before heading to Silverstone. 

That advantage was maintained throughout the penultimate weekend, with Patterson's position in the championship becoming mathematically secure ahead of the final round at Brands Hatch.

Patterson currently holds an unbeatable 111-point lead in the Jack Sears Trophy, with team-mate Nick Halstead sitting eighth in the standings.

The championship success adds another achievement to an impressive season for Patterson, who joined Power Maxed Racing's four-car Audi S3 programme for 2026 alongside Nick Halstead, Mikey Doble and Aiden Moffat. 

Throughout the season, Patterson has combined strong qualifying performances with podium challenges and consistent points-scoring, while continuing his development within the BTCC. 

The Jack Sears Trophy was introduced to the BTCC in 2014 and named after Jack Sears, who won the inaugural Championship in 1958. Eligibility for the trophy has changed a number of times since its introduction, but from 2018 onwards it has been awarded to the highest placed driver who had not achieved a BTCC podium prior to the start of the season.

For Patterson, the title represents the culmination of a season of development and progress at the highest level of touring car racing.

Patterson's championship success also adds another achievement to a strong 2026 campaign for Power Maxed Racing. The title marks the team's fifth Jack Sears Trophy Championship, further establishing Power Maxed Racing as the most successful team in the history of the award. 

The team also heads to the final weekend fighting for further championship honours, with Mikey Doble leading the Independent Drivers' Trophy by 25 points and LKQ Euro Car Parts with Power Maxed Racing leading the Independent Teams' Championship by 33 points.

While the Jack Sears Trophy has now been secured, Patterson will return to Brands Hatch for the final three races of the 2026 BTCC season, where he will look to finish his championship campaign on a high alongside the rest of the Power Maxed Racing team.

With one title already secured, Power Maxed Racing now heads to the season finale with further championship honours still within reach.
