Doble Ends 2025 BTCC Campaign with Gritty Independent Runner-Up Finish for Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing

Mikey Doble brought his 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship campaign to a close at Brands Hatch (4–5 October) with a hard-fought and determined performance that secured him the runner-up spot in the Independent Drivers’ Championship for Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing.

Taking on the legendary Grand Prix circuit in Kent, Doble carried the Independent title fight right down to the final race of the season. Despite giving everything behind the wheel of his Power Maxed Racing Cupra Leon, the 26-year-old narrowly missed out on snatching the crown from Restart Racing’s Daniel Lloyd after a dramatic and fiercely contested showdown.

The Surrey-based driver’s season has been one defined by determination and resilience. Following the devastating fire at Power Maxed Racing’s headquarters earlier in the year, the team faced the enormous task of rebuilding and adapting to a completely new car mid-season. Despite the setback, Doble rose to the challenge — claiming his first-ever BTCC race victory at Snetterton and consistently delivering competitive results that kept him in title contention to the very end.

Arriving at Brands Hatch within striking distance of the championship lead, Doble and the Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing squad approached the finale with full focus. After traffic on his final flying lap denied him a chance to advance in qualifying, Doble lined up 17th on the grid — but remained well within range of his championship rivals.

Sunday’s opening race saw Doble fight his way through the pack in typical fashion, securing valuable points and third in the Independents’ classification. In race two, he delivered a bold and tactical drive, outscoring Lloyd to take the title fight down to the wire and set up a thrilling, winner-takes-all finale.

With just a handful of points separating the championship contenders, Doble left nothing on the table in the final contest. Using every ounce of his racecraft and experience, he attempted to back Lloyd into the chasing pack to create an opportunity — but despite his best efforts, the cards didn’t quite fall his way. Doble ultimately concluded the year second in the Independent standings, just four points adrift of the title.

Reflecting on the finale, Doble said:

“It’s obviously a tough one to take, but there’s so much to be proud of. After everything that Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing has been through this year, just being in the title fight at all was a huge achievement.

“We didn’t quite have the outright pace on Sunday, so I knew I had to make something happen. Race two was all about being brave and keeping the pressure on Lloyd, and we did exactly that.

“In the final race we threw everything at it — I tried to back him into the pack and force an opportunity, but it just wasn’t to be. That’s the nature of the BTCC — you fight until the last lap, and that’s exactly what we did.

“Once the disappointment fades, I’ll look back on this season with huge pride. Becoming a BTCC race winner was a massive moment for me personally and for the whole team, and it gives me massive motivation to come back even stronger next year and fight for more trophies.”

The result marks a strong conclusion to a rollercoaster season for Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing, underlining the team’s resilience and competitiveness across one of the most fiercely fought BTCC seasons in recent memory.
