Evans Halshaw PMR eyeing Snetterton success
Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing have their sights set on more success this weekend (May 25-26) as the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship heads to Snetterton for Rounds 7, 8 & 9 of the 2024 season.
The Vauxhall Astra squad has been one the leading lights in the UK’s premier motorsport series to-date having taken a clean sweep of wins in both the Independents’ Championship and Jack Sears Trophy across the opening two meetings - and the aim is to continue that streak in Norfolk.
Four of those six Independent victories have gone the way of Árón Taylor-Smith and the Irishman will be heading to the 2.968-mile circuit this weekend in a buoyant mood having come oh-so close to scoring an overall podium finish last time out at Brands Hatch.
Taylor-Smith’s team-mate Mikey Doble is equally brimming with confidence that the front-wheel-drive outfit can challenge towards the sharp end after recording a brace of Independent and overall Jack Sears Trophy wins of his own.
Both drivers will head into the weekend armed with plenty of hybrid deployment virtue of their championship positions, and that could become a key factor when it comes to qualifying on Saturday afternoon.
Árón Taylor-Smith: “As a team we had a great outing at Brands Hatch and I’m aiming to both underline and build on our front-running pace that we showed last time out. I’ve never felt more confident in the car or team!
“We tested at Snetterton before the season started and from the one day that we did it was clear that the car has progressed from when we were there in 2023, which bodes well. The chassis is in a great window at the moment and I’m optimistic we can unlock even more performance.”
Mikey Doble: “Snetterton is a track I’ve always enjoyed racing at and I’ll be striving to maintain my Jack Sears Trophy winning streak this weekend. We’ve had a steady start to the season and after a strong pre-season test I feel like we have a good platform to the hit track with come FP1.
“It’s no lie that we all want to be challenging for the overall podium on a weekly basis and I’ve got no doubt in the team that we will get there.”.
Martin Broadhurst, Team Manager: “I think the whole team is looking forward to getting to Snetterton and showcasing what we can do, especially coming off the back of a positive showing at Brands Hatch.
“As nice as it would have been to finish on the podium at Brands, everyone in the team has taken confidence that we have a package that can fight at the front. Snetterton is a very different circuit but the testing we conducted there in pre-season leaves us optimistic.”
Adam Weaver, Team Principal: “Six wins from six in the Independents’ has been a fine start to the season however no one is resting on their laurels as we want to be contending for overall podiums and wins on a regular basis.
“Brands Hatch was a great step in the right direction for us and we hope to continue that at Snetterton. It’s a long lap where a lot can happen so we’ll take it one session at a time and see what we can do.”
Qualifying at Snetterton will be broadcast on the ITV Sport YouTube channel on Saturday from 15:30 before all three races are aired LIVE on ITV4 on Sunday. Race one is scheduled to begin at 11:35 ahead of race two at 14:25 and race three at 17:10.
