Mikey Doble Secures a Top Ten Start in BTCC Qualifying at Donington Park

Donington Park, Leicestershire – April 26, 2025

Mikey Doble delivered a great performance in today’s British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) qualifying session, securing a commendable 10th place grid position for tomorrow’s season-opening race. His time was identical, to three decimal places, to the time of his teammate from last year, Aron Taylor-Smith. Which is a very rare occurrence. However, Aron set the time first and therefore secures 9th position just ahead.

Piloting the sole Vauxhall Astra on the grid for Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing, Doble’s effort places him among the top championship contenders as the championship kicks off.

Doble’s pace was evident throughout the day’s sessions. In Free Practice 1, he clocked a lap time placing him seventh. He maintained this form in Free Practice 2, again finishing seventh with a consistent performance.

This strong qualifying result follows Doble’s impressive showing during the official pre-season test at Croft earlier this month, where he topped the timesheets with a lap time of 1:20.391, surpassing the existing qualifying lap record by over half a second .

Mikey Doble said “ It’s a really promising start. To be honest we haven’t quite got the car to where we know it can be, there’s plenty more time in it, I’m confident we can sort that before the first race. We always have a strong race car and I’m sure we will move forward tomorrow”

Doble’s consistent performances signal a promising start to the 2025 BTCC season for both the driver and the Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing team. Fans can look forward to an exciting race day tomorrow as Doble aims to capitalise on his strong qualifying position
