Nick Halstead Departs BTCC with a Special Fan Tribute

As the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season concludes, Power Maxed Racing would like to extend our gratitude to Nick Halstead, who departs from the championship.

Nick’s time with the team has been marked by steady progress, professionalism, and a clear passion for the sport. Across a season that saw him tackle two different cars — the Vauxhall Astra and the Cupra. The transition to a new car mid-season presented a significant challenge, demanding a complete reset in driving style, setup approach, and data understanding. Despite this, Nick rose to the occasion, working closely with both his race engineer and the rest of the Power Maxed team to adapt quickly and extract performance from unfamiliar machinery. His efforts were rewarded with another points finish in the Cupra — a result that underscored his determination, resilience, and growing capability within the championship.

For the final round, Nick ran a special livery allowing fans to have their names featured on his car — a heartfelt thank you to those who have followed and encouraged him and the team along the way. The fan-inspired design was a fitting way to close his BTCC chapter, symbolising the connection between driver, team, and supporters that defines the series.
Everyone at Power Maxed Racing would like to thank Nick for his hard work, professionalism, and positive attitude throughout an unprecedented, unpredictable but rewarding season. Overcoming adversity to score points in two different cars is no small achievement, and we wish him the very best in his future endeavours — both on and off the track.

Reflecting on his finale, Halstead said:
"I am always one to take away the positives from any situation, the second half of the season has been a constant "what if", and given progress that I had made up until Croft I was massively looking forward to the last rounds. So although the competitive part of me wanted to do better (and I'm sure having still been in the Astra we would have been regularly picking up points) - the reality was we had to fight every inch with what we had.

Brands is a circuit I love driving, and although on Saturday we really struggled to make the car drivable, when we got into Sunday we had made a huge step forward in pace and looking forward to making some progress.

Unfortunately two of the races we had contact which put me out of the running, but I was happy with the pace in the second race having a race long battle with other cars, so I am proud knowing the car was never properly competitive but that I gave it a good go.

I can't help but feel that there was a missed opportunity for my 3rd season, but I don't regret a second, this is the BTCC and just being able to take part is a massive privilege, I have to remind myself that I am going up against some of the best drivers in the world, so even the small achievements (points in every season) - is for me a huge win."
Thank you, Nick — from all of us at PMR.
