PM Junior Championship Announces First Official Taster Day at M-Sport
Prospective drivers will have their first opportunity to experience the all-new PM1 on track at M-Sport's headquarters and private test facility in Cumbria on Saturday 19th September.
The PM Junior Championship has announced its first official Taster Day, giving aspiring young drivers and their families the opportunity to experience the championship first-hand ahead of its planned launch in 2027.
Hosted at M-Sport's headquarters and private test facility at Dovenby Hall Estate near Cockermouth, the exclusive event will give prospective drivers the chance to get behind the wheel of the PM1 on M-Sport's private test track, while meeting the technical partners and race teams helping to shape the new championship.
Guests are welcome to attend for the full day, with driving sessions split into AM and PM groups, alongside a midday presentation and championship overview for all attendees.
The day will include:
Drive the PM1 on M-Sport's exclusive private test track
Driver evaluation session before heading out on track
Meet the PM Junior Championship technical partners and race teams
Championship presentation and overview at midday
Access to a full track viewing gallery throughout the driving sessions
On-site medical facilities for complete peace of mind
Complimentary catering throughout the day
An exclusive tour of the M-Sport Official Collection
The experience has been designed to give prospective drivers and their families a genuine insight into the PM Junior Championship, from the car itself and technical package, to the teams, partners and environment in which drivers will complete.
Priced at £375 + VAT per driver, the Taster Day provides an opportunity to experience the PM1 before making the next step into the championship. Importantly, the full £375 fee is refundable against the purchase of a PM Junior Championship car.
Each booking includes access for the driver plus up to two non-driving guests, allowing parents and family members to experience the day alongside the prospective driver.
Laura Payne, PM Junior Championship Coordinator, said:
“This is a really exciting milestone for the PM Junior Championship. We’ve spent a huge amount of time developing the car and the championship, and this Taster Day gives prospective drivers their first real opportunity to experience the PM1 and understand what we’re building.
Holding our first event at M-Sport makes it even more special. Drivers and their families will not only get to experience the car on track, but also meet our technical partners and race teams, hear more about the championship and get a real feel for the environment they could be entering.
We want the day to be about much more than driving the car. It’s an opportunity for families to ask questions, meet the people involved and understand the pathway we’re creating for young drivers.”
The PM Junior Championship is designed for drivers aged 14 to 17, providing a structured pathway from junior motorsport into car racing and, ultimately, senior motorsport. The championship will form part of the BTCC support package from 2027, providing young drivers with the opportunity to develop their skills within a professional race weekend environment.
The M-Sport Taster Day represents the next major milestone for the championship, moving the PM1 from development and demonstration into the hands of the drivers who could form its inaugural grid.
