PMR Announce New Volkswagen Racing Cup Entrant

Power Maxed Racing have today announced a new entrant to their 2021 Volkswagen Racing Cup campaign, in the form of Chris Wallis.

52-year-old Wallis will be piloting a freshly rebuilt VW Racing Cup Golf for the upcoming Maximum Motorsport series, which forms part of the Dunlop Touring Car Trophy.

The former Formula Ford and Vauxhall Lotus Championship racer has extensive experience in a number of different forms of motorsport, beginning his racing career in 1988, before retiring to focus on work and family in 1996.

After building a number of successful companies, Wallis decided to re-join the world of racing in 2020, which saw him take to the popular Focus Cup grid, in the Power Maxed liveried car. He would take a podium in his first race, and finish the championship sixth overall.

Wallis is the first VWRC driver to be announced by the Power Maxed Racing squad, who have a number of confirmed drivers taking to the circuit as part of their TCR-UK and VWRC programmes this year, including team stalwart Russell Joyce and BTCC Development Driver Jac Constable.

Martin Broadhurst, Power Maxed Racing Team Manager – “It’s great to welcome new drivers to the team, especially ones with the same long term outlook as ours. Chris is under no illusions as to how tough competing in the VWRC will be, but relishes the challenge, and we’re looking forward to him getting stuck in. We see this as the start of a long term relationship, and are looking forward to seeing what the future holds.”

Chris Wallis, Power Maxed Racing VWRC Driver – “It’s been a long time dream to get back into racing, and I’m over the moon to be working alongside a team as accomplished as PMR. Last year saw my first foray back in and was largely successful, bar a few mishaps, and I’m excited to progress into the Volkswagen racing Cup this year. I certainly see this as the start of something great with PMR, and I’m grateful to them for the direction so far, along with the support from my Partners at George Boyd (part of the Saint-Gobain Group), who are a close working partner of Focus Fire Risk Management and Focus Building and Development, my brands, that will also be part of this years program.”
