PMR Look to Field Entries in All-New Clio UK Cup

Race winning British Touring Car squad Power Maxed Racing (PMR) has confirmed it plans to enter the new Clio Cup UK championship as part of its racing activity in 2020.

Team Manager Martin Broadhurst says PMR is keen to hear from potential drivers. The team is initially looking to run two cars.

Martin commented: “Renault’s Clio Cup championships in the UK have always been prestigious – we’ve regularly had one eye on them and this new championship is the opportunity we’ve been looking for.

“We’ve seen the car and what the championship offers in terms of value for money and driver progression – it’s cost-effective and ticks all the right boxes.

“It would be a natural progression for PMR to campaign cars, especially for drivers ultimately looking to enter BTCC with a front running team. We’ve always been big supporters of bringing talent to the forefront, and in four years have had two drivers win the coveted BTCC Jack Sears Trophy for Best Rookie."

Clio Cup UK, supported by Renault Sport Racing, has already confirmed a seven-event calendar for its inaugural season in 2020.

It will appear five times at UK circuits alongside the British GT Championship, but also race at two more events overseas – Magny-Cours, France and Barcelona-Catalunya, Spain.

At Barcelona, the UK teams and drivers will join their Clio Cup France and Spain counterparts to form a truly international season finale – some 60 cars could potentially start.

All three championships – including Clio Cup UK – will use the latest fifth generation Clio Cup race car which can now be ordered for £32,750.00 + vat (based on current £/€ exchange rates).

A full season’s registration for Clio Cup UK is just £8,050.00 + vat per driver – this covers all seven events on the calendar and all entry fees etc (including the events at Magny-Cours and Barcelona).

Martin added: “It’s also the perfect opportunity for PMR to break onto the international circuit, as we’ve concentrated on UK based series since our inception in 2015.

“We’re impressed by the Clio Cup’s organisation and marketing potential, plus the support of the drivers with regards to media preparation and commercial acumen which gives them the knowledge to compete at the highest levels.”
