Power Maxed Racing Deliver Strong Knockhill Weekend as Championship Battles Intensify
Power Maxed Racing leaves Knockhill with two Independent victories, significant championship gains and a strengthened position at the top of the Independent Teams’ Championship following a landmark weekend at Scotland’s only Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship event.
Mikey Doble and Dexter Pattereson both secured fourth-place finishes and Independent victories across Sunday’s three BTCC races, while both drivers strengthened their respective championship campaigns.
For Doble, the weekend saw the LKQ Euro Car Parts with Power Maxed Racing driver move from seventh to sixth in the overall Drivers’ Championship. Doble now sits just two podium points behind fifth place, while extending his lead in the Independents Trophy to 36 points.
Patterson produced an equally impressive home performance. Having arrived at Knockhill second in the Jack Sears Trophy standings following Thruxton, the Steel Seal with Power Maxed Racing driver reclaimed the championship lead with a superb Sunday.
Patterson completed the day with a hat-trick of Jack Sears Trophy victories, culminating in fourth place and his first Independent victory of the season in Race Three. The result sees him leave his home round leading the Jack Sears Trophy by 17 points.
Power Maxed Racing showed its pace from the opening session on Saturday, with Aiden Moffat topping Free Practice, Patterson finishing second and Doble fourth.
Qualifying took place in cold, windy and increasingly changeable conditions, with Moffat securing seventh, Doble tenth, Patterson 12th and Nick Halstead 23rd.
The Qualifying Race brought further drama as rain began to fall. Moffat was forced off at the first corner despite starting from a strong position before rejoining the grid and subsequently making a second pit stop to switch to wet tyres.
Doble produced a strong drive to finish seventh, with Patterson 13th and Halstead 21st, while Moffat was forced to retire.
Sunday’s opening race was run in heavy rain, producing challenging conditions across the field. Power Maxed Racing placed three of its four cars inside the top ten, with Patterson seventh, Doble eighth and Moffat ninth. Moffat produced one of the drives of the race, recovering from his difficult Qualifying Race to gain 13 positions and finish ninth.
Race Two saw the rain clear and conditions dry out. Doble delivered a superb drive to fourth overall, securing the Independent victory and valuable championship points. Patterson followed in eighth, while Halstead finished 18th. Moffat was forced to retire on the opening lap.
The final race of the weekend delivered another standout result for Patterson. The Scottish driver charged to fourth overall and secured his first independent victory of the season, while completing a clean sweep of the Jack Sears Trophy across Sunday’s three races.
The results at Knockhill have strengthened Power Maxed Racing’s position across several championship battles.
Mikey Doble now sits in sixth in the overall Drivers’ Championship, just two points from fifth, while leading the Independents Trophy by 36 points.
Dexter Patterson has reclaimed the lead of the Jack Sears Trophy by 17 points and currently sits fifth in the Independents Trophy.
Aiden Moffat currently sits 16th in the Drivers’ Championship and ninth in the Independents Trophy, while Nick Halstead sits 25th overall and 11th in the Independents.
In the Independent Teams’ Championship, LKQ Euro Car Parts with Power Maxed Racing continues to lead the standings, extending its advantage to 17 points. The team currently sits fifth in the overall BTCC Teams’ Championship, with Steel Seal with Power Maxed Racing ninth overall and fifth in the Independent Teams’ Championship.
Knockhill also marked a significant milestone for Power Maxed Racing, with the team fielding four Audi S3s on the BTCC grid for the first time in its history.
Nick Halstead returned to the Power Maxed Racing line-up alongside Patterson, Moffat and Doble, completing the team’s largest BTCC entry to date.
Halstead’s return carried particular significance, having been part of the Power Maxed Racing team during the devastating fire twelve months ago. One year later, he was back behind the wheel of a Power Maxed RAcing car, this time an Audi, as the team reached another major milestone in its BTCC history.
Sunday’s race day marked exactly one year since the devastating fire that destroyed the Power Maxed Racing workshop and threatened the future of the team. Twelve months later, Power Maxed Racing returned to Knockhill with four cars on the BTCC grid, two Scottish drivers competing in front of their home crowd and championship positions strengthened across multiple categories.
The past year has seen Power Maxed Racing rebuild its operation, strengthen its commercial partnerships, launch the PM Junior Championship and continue to expand its presence within the BTCC.
The results achieved at Knockhill provided another significant milestone in that journey.
With Doble strengthening his position in the overall Drivers’ Championship and leading the Independents, Patterson reclaiming the Jack Sears Trophy lead, and LKQ Euro Car PArts with Power Maxed Racing continuing to lead the Independent Teams’ Championship, the team leaves Scotland with further momentum heading into the next stage of the 2026 season.
Power Maxed Racing now turns its attention to Donington Park, with the focus firmly on continuing that momentum and challenging for further championship success.
