Power Maxed Racing Signs Off TCR UK Season with Silverware at Brands Hatch
Rod McGovern collects the Goodyear Diamond Award as Jenson O'Neill-Going and McGovern finish second and third in the Tom Walker Trophy, and the team takes third in the Teams' Championship.
Power Maxed Racing closed its 2026 TCR UK Touring Car Championship campaign at Brands Hatch on 31 October-1 November, finishing third in the Teams' Championship and with its drivers finishing second and third in the Tom Walker Trophy.
Three races on the 1.2-mile Indy circuit brought the curtain down on a 17-race season that began at the same venue in April.
Jenson O'Neill-Going ends his first full season fifth in the overall standings at the wheel of the team's Honda Civic Type R TCR. The 17 year old made history earlier in the year by becoming the youngest driver ever to win a TCR UK race, and arrived at the finale with three victories, more than any other driver in the field. He led the championship in the early part of the season and finished as runner-up in the Tom Walker Trophy.
Rod McGovern was presented with the Goodyear Diamond Award for drivers aged 40 and over at Brands Hatch, having sealed the title at Oulton Park last time out. The Irishman, racing the team's CUPRA Leon, finished the season seventh overall and third in the Tom Walker Trophy, a remarkable return given his limited TCR experience before 2026.
The combined efforts of both drivers secured Power Maxed Racing third place in the Teams' Championship.
Season Highlights
The season got off to a record-breaking start at Brands Hatch in April. Aged 16 years and seven months, O'Neill-Going held off sustained pressure from Max Hart to win Race 2 of the opener, breaking Alex Ley's record as TCR UK's youngest race winner and leaving Kent as championship leader.
A second place at Croft in May kept him top of the drivers' standings, with Power Maxed Racing leading the Teams' Championship. In July, a reverse-grid win at Snetterton put O'Neill-Going back on top of the table. By then the team also held first and second in the Tom Walker Trophy and led the Goodyear Diamond Award.
Despite a costly run of non-finishes, O'Neill-Going reached the Brands Hatch finale with three wins, more than any rival, and still in mathematical contention for the title.
McGovern, meanwhile, enjoyed a breakthrough first full TCR season. The 2017 SEAT Supercup Ireland champion raced the CUPRA Leon VZ that Jenson Brickley drove to the 2025 TCR UK Europe title, and sealed the Goodyear Diamond Award at Oulton Park in October with a round to spare.
