Steel Seal with Power Maxed Racing enjoyed a highly successful opening weekend of the 2026 British Touring Car Championship at Donington Park, with Dexter Patterson delivering a series of impressive performances to secure the Jack Sears Trophy victory, marking his best-ever weekend in the BTCC.
Following Saturday’s Qualifying Race, Patterson lined up tenth on the grid for Race One and produced a strong drive to finish seventh, making it three Power Maxed Racing cars inside the top ten.
Race Two saw Patterson continue his consistent form, starting seventh and once again bringing the car home in seventh place, maintaining a strong points haul in a highly competitive field.
For the final race of the weekend, Patterson started from second on the reverse grid and delivered another composed performance to secure sixth place at the chequered flag, rounding off an impressive and consistent weekend.
Across the three races, Patterson demonstrated strong pace, consistency, and control, securing enough points to claim the Jack Sears Trophy victory and take the early lead in the standings.
The result caps off a significant milestone weekend for both driver and team, with Steel Seal with Power Maxed Racing finishing sixth in the overall BTCC Teams’ Championship and fourth in the Independent Teams’ standings. Patterson also sits sixth in the overall Drivers’ Championship and fourth in the Independent Drivers’ Championship.
Dexter Patterson said:
“Best ever weekend in Touring Cars. It’s good to have two reference drivers — I’ve got two really strong teammates. It’s nice to be able to sit down after this weekend and look at where I can improve, where I was strong, and where we can move forwards as a team. This should really help us heading into Brands Hatch.”
With strong results, silverware secured, and valuable points on the board, Steel Seal with Power Maxed Racing leaves Donington Park with momentum firmly on its side as the championship heads to Brands Hatch.
